About

The story behind the face.

Drum & bass producer & DJ. Innovative sound design, headline-energy shows, and a long-term commitment to mental health, positivity and inclusivity in the scene.

Leeds-based producer Fanchu has been disrupting the Drum & Bass scene since 2022 with their infectious energy and magnetic stage presence. One thing can be said about this artist: they know how to put on a show, with every performance leaving ravers mesmerised and inspired. It's not just ravers who are noticing the talent, however. The prestigious Hospital Records saw the vision too — Fanchu winning the Artist Mentorship in 2024 and establishing strong connections.

Started out making questionable hip hop beats and mini mixes in lockdown, Fanchu soon fell in love with the electronic music scene and started branching out more into drum and bass. Early inspirations were people like Dawn Wall, Chase & Status and DJ Limited, and from there a unique sound was born. Not restricting to one sub genre, Fanchu makes tracks across the whole scope of drum and bass — from liquid songs like Stay Bright and Baby At Last to jump up tracks like Shardz and Malfunction.

Growing up in the care system and suffering from poor mental health throughout university, mental health has become a big area of focus for Fanchu in and outside of the rave. Going to raves or experiencing live music has that way of physically releasing tension and stress in the body, allowing Fanchu to truly blossom into the person they are today.

What you can expect at a show

A curated set that grows in intensity throughout, often unplanned and speaking directly from the heart. Customised opening songs, every track delivering a purpose. High energy from start to finish. Questionable dancing but always with a smile. And PLENTY of dubplates.

Off the decks

Outside of the music world, Fanchu practices as a qualified accountant (currently training to be chartered!) and gets involved with some random hobbies — from learning Spanish to trampolining to skateboarding to running. Fanchu believes in living life to its fullest; even if that means being so busy all the time!

Mission

Self care is the first step.

Drum & bass is one of the most welcoming music genres I've ever experienced, and most of that is how non-judgemental and supportive other ravers are. I've met some of my closest friends through the rave and I want to keep that vibe alive. Here's some of the ways I do this:

01

Make new friends

Every rave I go to, I speak to a new stranger.

02

Look after one another

Self-explanatory — make sure the people around you are okay!

03

Dance your socks off

It's a rave for a reason. Let all that stress go and enjoy moving about.
